Baracuda Solar boat
The objective of this project was to design a solar powered boat that could generate more thrust than competitors - to win in a battling ram competition at Science works.
The design had to obey standards and restrictions that were outlines in the competition rule book, related to material selection, overall dimensions, weight and electronic components used.
I worked on this team project with 2 mechanical engineers and 1 mechatronics engineer. We all shared the load and were included in all areas of design and engineering the vessel.
I was in charge of design and model construction. Based on buoyancy calculations I modelled the boat hull and Solar Panel stand. I then mounted the PCB and electronics housing to the underside of the panel stand.
